ping! — Programa de Incursão à Galeria explores the ideas of time and continuity, maintaining a close relationship with the audience — school and non-school — based on a discursive and practical ‘come-and-go’.
ping! creates experimental, careful and involving ways of sharing ideas and knowledge through artistic expression. Its activities take place in the Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP), in the Auditorium of the Biblioteca Municipal Almeida Garrett (BMAG) and in the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal, extending also to the classroom or to other less conventional places of learning.
In 2023, the ping! followed three thematic axes: Gineceu+Estigma, related to landscape and the botany of the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal; Memória de Elefante, an investigation of the legacy of the Portuguese Colonial Exhibition of 1934, in the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal; Exodus, tours of the urban and artistic surroundings of GMP.
ping! also proposes two activities dedicated to the school community: Visitas-Pavão, for children visiting GMP and the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal; and pings!, for young-adults interested in the artistic and cultural life of Porto.
