Listening session

Quarto Mundo listening session explores the intersection of sound, space, and the conscious act of listening. Based on the experience of visiting the exhibition State of spirit and field recordings made there, the session is constructed as a dialogue between these echoes and a selection of records chosen specifically for the acoustics and resonant frequencies of the Carlos Alberto Chapel.

From primordial tones to sounds that inhabit the Portuguese imagination, via drones, minimal music and ritual invocations to water, wind and fire, Quarto Mundo will explore soundscapes where memory, dreams, prayers and practices converge, evoking the elements that shape our collective history over time.

The Quarto Mundo project is a Porto-based initiative that organises listening sessions that offer authentic sonic journeys. Outside noise is left at the door, making way to stimulate attention as a form of mindfulness through music played on vinyl records, via a high-fidelity sound system.
