Join Infrasonica’s Eloisa Travaglini and Sam Simon for a workshop featuring a sonic essay and listening session. Through the activation of the Infrasonica archive, together with light audience participation, they will explore creative modes of translation that seek to develop a methodology for listening to the “inanimate” and assigning it language through an approach that decentralises the human perspective. Can we extract knowledge preserved in the inorganic and begin to assemble a non-human lexicon, or must we accept a stone’s insistence on silence?
Infrasonica is a digital platform dedicated to non-Western cultures. It records, analyses, and debates the eeriness of sound and its auras, connecting with the world through the audible, the hidden, and the sensorial. Like infrasonic waves—frequencies imperceptible to the human ear yet often generated by large-scale ecological phenomena such as the movement of tectonic plates or the deep currents of the ocean—Infrasonica seeks to act as a catalyst for these vibrations.
