This Monday, November 11, the
Diário da República published the "Tender for the Design of the Visual and Graphic Identity of the Municipal Gallery of Oporto", in the form of a restricted call with prior qualification. The competition, promoted by Ágora, is open until December 9 at 17h00.
The Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP), located in the Palácio de Cristal Gardens, is one of the cultural centres of Ágora - Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M. S.A., and is part of the Contemporary Art Department. It presents a regular programme of exhibitions and public and educational programmes that include interdisciplinary aural, discursive, pedagogical, moving image, performative, sculptural and visual practices, exploring the art and culture of the 21st century. During 2026, GMP will also have a new space in the east of the city, with the opening of a second centre in Matadouro.
In line with the Galeria Municipal do Porto's communication strategy, this competition aims to develop a new visual and graphic identity that focuses on GMP as a central and aggregating project that now integrates the Pláka platform, the Fonoteca Municipal do Porto and other future projects.
This new proposal, which seeks to bring together the different projects, aims to select a visual and graphic identity that should translate the dimension of GMP as an artistic programming structure, but also as a platform that drives a series of programmes to support and promote artistic practice - the Pláka platform, which has developed the initiatives Ateliers Municipais do Porto, Aquisições, Criatório, InResidence and Shuttle, as well as the management of the Contemporary Art Nucleus of the Municipal Art Collection.
In convergence with GMP's music and sound programme, the Fonoteca Municipal do Porto (FMP) will also function as a satellite project, coexisting with the rest of GMP's structure and programme. Located in Campanhã, the FMP is the space that brings together the city's record collection, available for free listening.
The graphic proposal should ensure a homogeneous and transversal identity that covers all the projects and allows them to be easily and directly identified, using a stimulating language capable of reaching different audiences. The design should be guided by ethical values and principles, including physical, social and intellectual accessibility, inclusive language, ecological balance and sustainable resources for its printed materials.
The documents that make up the proposal must be submitted via the
acinGov electronic platform.
