Anna Zvyagintseva: the same hair

Surface Encounters is the latest exhibition project of Galeria Municipal do Porto, which takes to the exterior of the building interventions by four artists from Ukraine who will share their reality with the city through the images and impressions conveyed in each work.

The first piece exhibited is “the same hair”, by artist Anna Zvyagintseva (1986, Dnipro, Ukraine).

In her practice Anna Zvyagintseva investigates imperceptible, impalpable facets of life, showcasing their fragility and documenting elusive intangible moments. Anna is working with topics such as body, paths, useless action and small gestures. She focuses on the idea of potentiality doing something without a clear purpose, she researches how hesitation and mistakes can lead to unexpected encounters and outcomes. Her oeuvre departs from drawing, crossing it with transmedial variations in the field of sculpture, installation, video and painting.

Anna Zvyagintseva’s image was graphically interpreted by the artist and designer Irina Pereira, a gesture that created a liminal encounter zone, producing a space of sharing between distinct realities and experiences.
