In Sea Skin, we observe bodies that do not belong to a single geography. They move out to sea, crossing borders and temporalities. In her first institutional exhibition, Eunice Pais presents a space that considers the interconnected relationships between memory and ecosystems. While the film Rosa/Zita offers a fragmented account of her mother’s journey, the installation Do Mar de Sargaço invites us to consider how aquatic species can offer alternative possibilities and futures capable of disseminating dissident narratives. Drawing on intersecting narratives and evolving identities, the Portuguese-Mozambican artist invites us to envision the harmonious coexistence of species and geographies as an act of collective resistance.
