Exhibitions opening

In its first opening of 2026, Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP) presents three exhibitions dedicated to artistic production from Porto and Portugal.

Eunice Pais’s first institutional solo exhibition, Sea Skin draws on imagery of the country’s northern coast to explore issues related to identity and memory through sculpture and video.

GMP’s new biennial initiative supporting artistic production, Commissions #1, brings together Mauro Cerqueira, Joana Escoval, Sara Graça, Catarina Miranda and Mariya Nesvyetaylo. The exhibition showcases five newly commissionedworks encompassing drawing, installation, sound, textiles and video, mappingthe diversity and vitality of the national art scene.

GMP also presents Silvestre Pestana’s new  installation, Collapse, a large-scale piece that expands on the artist’s rigorous and ongoing investigation of the impacts of technology on our society.
