Fluid Prospections is a performance programme curated by Alexandra Balona, which forms part of Contemporânea’s On Hybridity and The Poetics of Resistance in 2025 and 2026. Under the artistic direction of Celina Brás, this project operates in the fields of creation, curation and programming and, as a whole, aims to celebrate hybrid universes as processes of negotiation and dialogue that foster new forms of knowledge. Exploring the relationship between moving image, performance and sound, it focuses on artistic practices that challenge these concepts. The hybrid expands into contemporary fluidity in performances that scrutinise infrastructures of power, articulate tourism, migration and capital, and reflect on the legacy of a Black Atlantic.

Alexandra Balona is an independent curator and lecturer. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies and is an assistant lecturer at the UCP School of Arts. She is a member of the management team at Rampa and has curated numerous projects in the visual arts, philosophy and performance. She is the author of Dança Fora de Si. A Obra Coreográfica de Marlene Monteiro Freitas (Dafne 2025) and its English edition (Lenz 2025). She writes for Público and Contemporânea.
