Que Horas São Que Horas: Uma Galeria de Histórias
Que Horas São Que Horas: Uma Galeria de Histórias is the publication that follows the exhibition project with the same name, presented between 2020 and 2021 at Galeria Municipal do Porto.
Curated by José Maia, Paula Parente Pinto and Paulo Mendes, the exhibition curated by Guilherme Blanc aimed to revisit the artistic circuit of the city of Porto between the 1940s and contemporary times, through a reflection on cultural spaces, artists and audiences.
The Gallery space was filled with a vast documental archive, such as photographs, art magazines and pamphlets, videos of openings, performances and works of art. Surrounded by a scenario made of transport boxes, archive shelves and other technical equipment, the spectator was invited to enter a time capsule, allowing the discovery of past exhibitions, artists and galleries.
The project, now materialized in book form, goes through the history of more than thirty spaces between 1945 and 2010. It includes contributions by Adelaide Duarte, Aida Castro, Fátima Lambert, Laura Castro, Sandra Vieira Jürgens, Sobral Centeno and Sónia Moura, in addition to the curators, and also a survey made to the Porto Galleries, providing a first-hand account of the stories and experiences of each project.
