Anuário: uma visão retrospetiva da arte no Porto
For three editions, between 2019 and 2021, the Anuário project took the form of exhibitions and events in different spaces in Porto, reflecting on the curatorial and artistic practices developed in the city over the course of each year.
As part of the Pláka platform — which brings together the municipality’s support programmes for contemporary art — the project was conceived by João Ribas and Guilherme Blanc who, for each edition, invited a group of curators to accompany, document and analyse artistic proposals presented in publicly accessible spaces. Each exhibition was the result of this continuous work of reflection on artistic production, in a participatory curatorial process where the perspectives of different curators converged in an understanding of art in the city.
The project has been converted into a publication bringing together the memory of the proposals of more than 100 artists and collectives, in a book designed by the duo Mariana Marques and Inês Nepomuceno.

Publications
The Galeria Municipal do Porto’s publications are conceived on the basis of its exhibition projects and public programmes and reflect the intention to document such initiatives, and foster research associated to the arts and contemporary thought. For the development of each publication, artists, curators, critics and researchers are invited to discuss the themes raised by each project and reflect on its relevance in the current artistic panorama.
