Between September 2025 and September 2026, the INSTITUTO’s programme — developed in collaboration with a wide network of partners and participants — invites reflection on the challenges facing contemporary cities, fostering dialogue between architecture, the visual arts, professionals from different disciplines and civil society. The aim is to engage the public in reinterpreting the dynamics that shape urban spaces, with a particular focus on the city of Porto and the Northern region. The programme includes four exhibitions, four pop-up installations and two expeditions (combining guided urban tours and opportunities for debate).

INSTITUTO is a meeting point for diverse forms of cultural expression, situated in the heart of Porto and founded in 2018. The interests and backgrounds of the resident team underpin a programme that draws on the field of architecture and extends to the visual and spatial arts, critical thinking and interdisciplinary intersections. We believe that interdisciplinarity, combined with the informal nature of the space and a desire to address pressing contemporary issues, fosters the creation and exploration of new contemporary discourses.
