Through artistic and intellectual practices that envision a shared future, Sismógrafo invites us to reflect on the layers of lived and imagined experience that withstand the challenging conditions of the present. To this end, it views collaboration as a fertile ground for hope and a practical means of addressing the paradoxes that define this era. By prioritising a direct relationship with the surrounding community and extending from its location to other geographical areas, the proposed programme acts as a mediator between different perspectives and forms of knowledge, creating dialogues of otherness open to alternative futures.

Sismógrafo is an independent space, programmed by Salto no Vazio, a non-profit association established in late 2013. Drawing inspiration from both Yves Klein – and his famous ‘saut dans le vide’ – and Aby Warburg – who understood the historian’s task as that of a seismograph, one that signals the singular moments of the present and links them to a tradition – the Sismógrafo has guided its activities by capturing the energies of the present, intuiting the future and most intense movements in art, and offering them to those who visit the space. And so it intends to continue: reflecting on art within a new global disorder, in an era where culture is linked to industry, at a time of impoverishment of experience and reception, whilst striving to respond to the challenges of our time.
