This project, developed in partnership with Magalhães Lemos Hospital, aims to promote the participation and inclusion of people with mental health conditions, building bridges of empathy and dialogue with the city through the writing and publication of their personal narratives. The results will be compiled into a book, creating opportunities for empowerment, sharing and dialogue with the community or communities, whilst helping to break down prejudices, championing a diversity of voices and advocating for the right of people with experience of mental illness to belong and participate. The project includes a Personal Narratives Workshop and a Writing Workshop led by the writer Francisca Camelo, as well as public events for sharing stories such as the Human Library, walks and book launch sessions.

ENCONTRAR+SE, founded in 2006, arose from the need to develop solutions to the challenges encountered in the development, implementation, evaluation and research of appropriate responses to the specific requirements of the psychosocial rehabilitation of people with severe mental illness. Our mission is to contribute to the promotion of mental health and to provide access to best practice in the treatment of mental illness. We also aim to combat the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness in our society, which prevents people from speaking openly about the issue, from offering or seeking help, and from ensuring that mental illnesses are treated effectively.
